The research question at hand is the degree of impact of a dietary protein source and type (e.g. animal vs plant) and amount on selected physiological and health outcomes.
Here is what a randomized study recently found (emphasis added):
…[D]iets varying in protein quantity with either beef/pork or soy/legume as the predominant source have minimal effects on appetite control, energy expenditure and cardio-metabolic risk factors during ER-induced weight loss.
This is interesting in the context of our recent post showing the short term impacts of a varied diet.
Readers should not assume this is a simple topic, but this finding is certainly noteworthy; advocates for a plant-based diet will certainly have something to add to this conversation.
